My office is pretty casual. We've never been told a dress code or been reprimanded for anything any of us have worn.

Last Wednesday I wore a knee length silk skirt with a semi-casual (can be dressed up) tank.

There is a snack pack (pay as you eat, trust system, vending machine like only in an organized little box) thing in my office that is refilled every 2 weeks or so which was filled on this particular Wednesday.

I showed the lady that came (whom I had never met before) where the snack pack was to be refilled; she said thanks and followed it with, "you sure do look comfortable."

I just don't know what to think about that comment.

i dunno... perhaps it is typical female behavior
to wonder about such things... but i can clearly
    see what she is saying.

i think had it been me, i'd check her tone...
just after i got a gander of what she was wearing.

it could be as simple as:

"hey, i'm wearing this scotch stiff heavy number
and its farkin hot outside. boy, you sure do
    look comfortable."

or it could be as cunning as:

"wow! i thought this place was professional"

    or something of that nature...

i think it really depends on the situation...
however in any case, neither of them can really
be taken as an insult. i'm gonna go with #1.

shatzy...you're right on, that's why I was not sure how to take what she said...it could have gone either way

ek3...i already spoke to you about your "responses"
    *rolls eyes*

    and

gt...after speaking to ek3 about the way he responds to some posts...he asked, "well, has anyone said anything about the thumb jamming post?" to which I read him your reply. He said, "well then, see?" as if you were actually in support of the idea of me jamming my thumb in her eye.

Which brings me right back to how responses can be misinterpreted.

    p.s. I understand sarcasm completely.

    hmm...i guess you misunderstood...

think back now...have you ever been in a bad situation, where a quick thumb in the eye wouldn't fix it?

and for those situations...a punch in the stomach is always a good follow up...
